Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior MySQL Database Engineer (L3 Support) to manage and support mission-critical database systems. This role requires deep expertise in MySQL, PostgreSQL, AWS RDS, and Amazon Aurora, along with strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills in high-availability production environments. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring database stability, reliability, and performance, while handling complex production incidents and driving continuous improvements..
- Experience in DB design, deployment, and management of cloud database solutions on MySQL, AWS RDS, Aurora (MySQL & PostgreSQL), MSSQL, and MariaDB.
- Perform query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning
- Ensure high availability (HA) using replication, clustering, and failover strategies
- Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) processes
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements
- Troubleshoot critical production issues under tight SLAs
- Automate routine database tasks using scripting (Shell/Python)
- Support database upgrades, patching, and migrations
- Collaborate with DevOps, application, and cloud teams
- Participate in on-call support rotation (24×7)
- Perform database tuning, monitoring, and performance optimization to ensure database health and security.
- Ensure security best practices for cloud databases, including encryption, IAM roles, and network configurations.
- Collaborate with DevOps, development, and infrastructure teams to integrate database solutions into CI/CD pipelines.
- Good understanding of cloud operational/transaction optimization techniques.
- Communicate effectively (verbal and written) and clearly within the team and with all the stakeholders
- Good knowledge of the ITIL process
- Flexible to work on 24/7 rotational shifts
Must-Have Skills
- Strong expertise in MySQL (InnoDB, replication, partitioning, indexing)
- Advanced knowledge of query optimization and execution plans
- Hands-on experience with AWS RDS
- Experience with Amazon Aurora (MySQL/PostgreSQL)
- Strong troubleshooting skills for high-severity production issues
- Strong Windows, Linux/Unix administration skills. Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis, etc.)
- Experience in database migrations (on-premise to AWS cloud)
- Familiarity with Terraform / CloudFormation (Infrastructure as Code)
- Experience in CI/CD pipelines for database deployments
- Knowledge of cost optimization in AWS database services
- AWS Certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, Database Specialty)
- Experience in large-scale, high-traffic production environments, Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure during critical incidents
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- Proactive mindset with strong ownership
